Java ME ora anche su Mac OS X!

Dopo anni di attesa è finalmente possibile sviluppare con Java ME anche su Mac OS X! Java ME SDK 3.0 è stato rilasciato da pochi giorni ed è liberamente scaricabile dal sito di Sun (non pesa molto, circa una cinquantina di megabyte).

Alcune delle feature:

• Architettura unica che permette di lavorare con i veri dispositivi direttamente dall'SDK
• Comunicazione tra i dispositivi e debugging via Wi-Fi
• Supporto di tutte le API Java ME e dell'ultima versione della CLDC Hot Spot VM
• Strumenti di ottimizzazione (profiler, ecc.) inclusi nel pacchetto
• Emulatore per Java FX

Ecco uno screenshot di come si presenta l'ambiente di sviluppo (che non è altro che una versione modificata di NetBeans):

L'SDK necessita di Java 1.6, pertanto è installabile solo su Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) o superiore.

Credo sia ora di rispolverare il manuale di Java ME!

Eluveitie: nuovo album ad inizio 2010!

La registrazione del nuovo album è terminata e "Everything Remains" (questo il titolo) sarà distribuito la prossima primavera. Non sarà la seconda parte del concept acustico Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion, per quella (Evocation II: Visions) c'è da aspettare.

L'annuncio completo si trova sul forum ufficiale del gruppo. Riporto questo breve estratto riguardante il contenuto dei testi, personalmente mi sembra interessante:

Lyrically the album consists of diverse stories and narrations from ancient Gallia: Historical occurrences and fates of individuals as well as myths and legends bequeathed throughout the centuries. Yet the lyrics pretty much focus the "human" aspects of those historical happenings and also behold them with some questioning and probably also with a slightly bitter-sweet smile, being well aware of the fact that today we simply cannot tell, how things exactly have been back then.

Non resta che aspettare!

jCodeCollector and Snow Leopard (part 2)

I didn't imagine I'd have such a hard time working on a new version of jCodeCollector! MacWidgets (both 0.9.5 and 0.9.6) works bad on Snow Leopard and I'm waiting an update "Mac OS 10.6 Ready ©" to release jCodeCollector 2.1, please be patient!

javastaff.com non raggiungibile

Alcuni visitatori mi fanno notare che i link agli articoli che ho pubblicato su javastaff.com non funzionano più. Non so cosa sia successo ma effettivamente da diversi giorni il sito non è raggiungibile.

Mi scuso per l'inconveniente, spero che la situazione torni presto alla normalità!

Formattare il testo nella chat di Facebook!

Forse non tutti sanno che... è possibile formattare il testo all'interno della chat di Facebook! Di preciso non so da quanto tempo si può fare, io l'ho scoperto solo qualche giorno fa per puro caso XD

Non aspettatevi chissà cosa, si tratta solo di mettere in grassetto una frase o di farla apparire sottolineata (niente di eccezionale ma in certe occasioni può essere utile). Per il primo caso (testo in grassetto) basta inserire il testo tra due asterischi * mentre nell'altro caso (testo sottolineato) il testo va inserito tra underscore _

Ad esempio, scrivendo nella chat di Facebook le due righe seguenti si ottiene il risultato visualizzato nell'immagine qui sotto:

*Questa frase è in grassetto*
_Questa frase è sottolineata_

Probabilmente esistono altri comandi di formattazione del testo ma al momento non sono riuscito a trovarli... Se qualcuno mi trova il modo per avere il testo in italico (non) vince un premio (ho provato di tutto, giuro)! XD

jCodeCollector for Linux

jCodeCollector 2.0 for Linux has been released. I'm surprised, it works fine on Ubuntu 8.04!

Warning: you must have the Java environment installed. The package is sun-java6-bin. Forget the openjdk-6-jre, it doesn't work! (how to install Java on Ubuntu?).

The tar.gz is downloadable from MegaUpload.

jCodeCollector for Windows (UPD 20090911)

Finally jCodeCollector 2.0 is available for Windows also! I just tried the application on Windows XP (virtualized with Virtual Box) and it seems to work fine but there should be some minor issues. Please report to me any problem you find!

One year after the previous release the new jCodeCollector 2.0 is now available for download! You can find it on MacUpdate. At the moment it's available for Mac OS X Leopard only.
